About The Puzzle Shelf: Our Mission

The Puzzle Shelf Story

Hi, I’m Henry.

I created The Puzzle Shelf in late 2025 with a specific belief: Entertainment should be immersive. It should connect people. It should be a fully involved experience.

Whether you are solving a narrative mystery or a complex logic grid, my goal remains the same. I want to create books that respect your intelligence. Furthermore, I want to create a space that doesn’t rely on screens.

The Journey

Why am I doing this? This business is a personal experiment in finding purpose.

I followed the standard script. I attended university, did a graduate scheme in tech, and began the corporate moulding. During that time, I tried launching various side hustles along the way, but nothing truly stuck. Eventually, I left it all behind to travel through South America and New Zealand.

It was during this time that I read What’s Your Dream? by Simon Squibb. That book sparked a realisation: I didn’t just want a job. I needed a purpose to build something around. I wanted the autonomy to make a living on my own time, doing work that actually matters.

Following Passion

That purpose has evolved into a dream of becoming an independent publisher. My first step on this path was releasing 365 Beginner Cryptic Crossword Clues. Seeing that book find a small but passionate audience was my first taste of success, and it proved that there is a hunger for high-quality, thoughtful puzzles.

The Puzzle Shelf is my attempt to build on that foundation. It is about slowing down. We prioritise quality over quantity. Ultimately, we deliver products that act as an antidote to the relentless digital noise.

A Note on Connection

Beyond the logic and the mysteries, my deeper purpose is to foster connection. In a modern age where social media often replaces real intimacy, I believe we are facing a crisis of disconnection.

I hope that these products help bridge that gap—whether that means connecting with a friend over a mystery, or simply reconnecting with your own mind in a quiet moment of focus.

Thank you for browsing, and for supporting this independent journey.
